Native to the Chicago area, Ruth's professional career began as a pianist, organist, and piano teacher. She holds a B.A. Degree in Music Education and Piano Performance, and a M.M. Degree in Piano Performance. She has performed in Europe, Canada, the Republic of China, and throughout the Midwestern United States. Ruth has performed as both piano soloist and organist and has accompanied instrumentalists, vocalists, choral groups, and ensembles, including the Apollo Chorus, the Sounds of Joy Chorus, Oakbrook Choral Society, the Elmhurst Symphony and numerous other groups. She has received recognition as a distinguished teacher in Michigan, Canada, and the Chicago area where she has taught piano both at the university level and privately to adults and children. Ruth taught general music for 28 years, in elementary and secondary schools. She is Kindermusik trained, has directed choirs in various churches and schools, and served as Music Director at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Hinsdale where she is currently organist. Ruth enjoys spending time with the families of her two children and five grandchildren, who live in the area.
